Stephen King
The through-line of the club. A 2012 double-winner, still soaring fourteen years later.
The keeper of the flame.
Stephen King has worn this jersey through more names and more seasons than anyone else in the room. He was a forward on the UL Eagles side that won the double in 2012, the Cup and the League in one season, and he is still here fourteen years later. The club has changed badge, merged with neighbours and become Limerick Sport Eagles since then. King carried on regardless.
That makes him the single thread running through the whole story. What he brings on the floor was never loud. He knows where to be and when, and he does the unglamorous work that lets the scorers shine. After this many years in the National League, very little rattles him.
He has watched the team climb, slip back and rebuild, and in 2025-26 he was still on the roster as the Eagles went and won the lot again. When the younger lads want to know what a winning season actually feels like, they don't need to read about it. They can just ask Steve. Two doubles, more than a decade apart, the same player on both. There aren't many in Irish basketball who can say that.
2025-26 with the Eagles
The senior statesman of the double-winning squad. King's long service stretches from the 2012 double to the 2025-26 Cup and Division One titles, a 14-year thread through the club's story, now capped by promotion to the Super League.
