A young Lions guard.
Rookie guard. Limerick Lions all the way up. Number 3.
Fred Klimas is a promising young Irish guard, and 2025-26 was a fine first season in senior basketball. He has played for Ireland at two FIBA Youth EuroBasket tournaments, at U16 and U18, and once top-scored with 20 in a national U16 schools cup final. For a guard this young, he played all year with real maturity.
He is an all-round guard. He can shoot it from outside, with the range to stretch a defence, and he can put the ball on the floor and get to the basket. One of his real strengths is his on-the-ball defence, which is excellent for his age, and he is comfortable under pressure.
2025-26 with the Eagles
His first senior season, and a good one to be part of: Cup, league and promotion to the Super League. Klimas took his chances when they came, including five off the bench in the 107–74 win over Malahide, and came away with a full year of national-league basketball behind him.
