Sixteen years old and a senior call-up. That was Yakovlev in 2024. He came up the Limerick Lions way and had already won three trophies with their U18s, so the Eagles took the gamble early. It looks a smart one.
He's a 6'6" forward, now into his second season with the seniors and one of the youngest players on the team. Long, quick and still growing into himself, he has the size to make life hard for older, stronger opponents. He scored 13 the night the Eagles put 107 on Malahide, and he was part of a double-winning year that finished with promotion to the Super League.
He is a prospect for the future. The length and athleticism are clear, and he shows composure for a player his age.

A second-season forward in the double-winning squad. Yakovlev reached double figures with 13 points in the 107–74 win over Malahide and featured across the campaign as the Eagles claimed the Cup and Division One double and promotion to the Super League.
