Ajay Walsh
A fan favourite back in blue. The Limerick forward who has worn the Ireland jersey at U20 level.
The crowd's favourite.
A Limerick forward, 6'5", back in the blue. The crowd missed him, and they've let him know they're glad he's back. The home support adopts a certain kind of player as their own, and Walsh is one of them at UL Arena and at St Munchin's, where the noise sits closer to the floor.
He has worn green as well. In the summer of 2023 Walsh played the FIBA U20 Men's European Championship (Division B) for Ireland out in North Macedonia, group games against the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria and the host nation. For a forward still learning his trade, it was a hard, useful education a long way from home. Good company for a young player to keep.
This season he was part of it all: the Cup, the league, the climb to the Super League. Six points in the 107–74 win over Malahide, and a fair few quiet shifts besides. The sort of man a winning squad is glad to have.
2025-26 with the Eagles
Part of the double-winning squad and a familiar face for the home crowd. Walsh scored in the run-in, including 6 points in the 107–74 rout of Malahide, and added 5 points in the Division One final win over Titans BC that secured promotion to the Super League.
