Tommy Walsh joined Niall McDermott's backroom team as an assistant coach for the 2025-26 season, the campaign that delivered the club's double and promotion to the Super League.
The club's record has Tommy Walsh captaining Burger King Limerick and hitting the buzzer-beating three that won Limerick's first National Cup in 2002, an 89-83 win over Star of the Sea.
Born in the Bronx, a Stonehill College graduate and a New York firefighter, Walsh coached the UL Eagles through 2016 to 2018 before moving into the international ranks. He has served as head coach of the Ireland Under-20 men's team, and in October 2025 was reappointed to that role for a three-year term. Now he is back on the Limerick bench too, passing that experience on to the next group.
