Niall McDermott took over as Eagles head coach in 2024, stepping up after a season as Matt Hall's assistant in 2023-24. He inherited a side on the rise and pushed it the rest of the way.
In 2025-26 the Eagles won the double under his charge: the Men's Division 1 National Cup, beating Drogheda Wolves in the final, and the Division One title, beating Titans BC 82-63 in the final on 11 April 2026. The double earned promotion to the Domino's Men's Super League, top-flight basketball back in Limerick.
His work was recognised across the season. He was named Division One Coach of the Year at the Basketball Ireland Awards, and picked up the January Coach of the Month award along the way.
