Profile

Jason Killeen.

Jason Killeen is a Limerick man, and the club has always felt the pull of bringing him home. He returned in 2011 after years playing abroad, and walked straight into the best season the club has known. In the 2011-12 league final he was named MVP with 25 points and 12 rebounds as the Eagles completed the league-and-Cup double, the city's first national league title.

Years later he came back again. In a 2024 play-off win away at Portlaoise, with the game on the line, it was Killeen who stepped to the line and sank the clutch free throws as the clock ran down. Some things do not change.

His international record is what sets him apart. A long-serving senior Ireland international and captain, Killeen led the side to gold at the 2021 FIBA European Championship for Small Countries, Ireland's first senior men's trophy in 27 years, sealed with a 97-66 win over Malta at the National Basketball Arena. He retired from international duty straight after. He later took up the role of Basketball Development Officer for the Mid-West, based in Limerick.
