Limerick Sport Eagles are into the National Cup semi-finals after a 31-point win, 81-50, away to Carrick Cruisers. The defence set the standard, holding the hosts to 50 and turning stops into easy baskets at the other end.
Ryan Leonard top-scored with 20 points and was a menace defensively, picking up five steals to go with five rebounds. Darragh Horkan was excellent across the board with 19 points, eight rebounds and six assists, while Alex Carlisle added 17 points and six boards.
It was a proper team effort. Toby Christensen handed out six assists, Daniel Shahab four, and the bench got real minutes with the result long settled. Holding any side to 50 points in a knockout tie is the kind of performance that travels.
The reward is a place in the last four of the Cup. Limerick can now look forward to a semi-final with belief.
