Alex Carlisle scored 38 points as Limerick Sport Eagles beat Drogheda Wolves 88-64 to reach the final.
Limerick Sport Eagles are into the Division One final after an 88-64 win over Drogheda Wolves in the play-off semi-final at home. The Eagles took control before half-time and pulled steadily away, never letting the Wolves back into it.
Alex Carlisle was the difference, pouring in 38 points and shooting 7 from 9 from beyond the arc. He had 15 of those in the second quarter alone as the Eagles opened up a lead they would not give back, then knocked down two more threes in the third as Limerick won the period 28-12.
Sean Ryan gave the Eagles a real lift off the bench with 16 points, four of them threes. Ryan Leonard filled the box score with nine points, 11 assists, eight rebounds and five steals, running the floor all night, and Toby Christensen added 11 points, seven assists and six rebounds.
It sets up a final for a place in the Super League, and the Eagles have earned their shot. Carlisle has been in this kind of form all season, but a night like this in a semi-final is the sort that wins finals.
Now the work turns to the decider. One more game, played in Dublin, with promotion on the line. The group has been building towards this and they will go in believing.
