National Cup FinalHomeWin 83–67

Limerick Sport Eagles lifted the Division One National Cup, beating Drogheda Wolves 83-67 at the National Basketball Arena, with Ryan Leonard named MVP.

Limerick Sport Eagles are National Cup champions. An 83-67 win over Drogheda Wolves at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght sealed the Division One Cup, the first major piece of silverware of the campaign and a proud day for the club.

The Eagles led at every break. They were 24-18 up after the first quarter, 47-44 ahead at the half and stretched it to 66-56 by the end of the third. Wolves got it back to 79-64 in the closing minutes but never closer, and Limerick saw it out.

Ryan Leonard took the MVP award with 24 points, hitting three from beyond the arc and adding three steals and two blocks. Alex Carlisle backed him with 21 points and four assists, and the pair combined for 45 of the team's points. Darragh Horkan was excellent on both ends, 16 points, three threes and four steals.

Toby Christensen did the dirty work once again, 15 points, eight rebounds and five assists across the full 40 minutes. The win is the reward for a Cup run that began away to Portlaoise Panthers in November, through Carrick Cruisers and a semi-final against Templeogue in Cork.

Bringing a national title back to Limerick is a big day for the players and everyone around the club. The squad now turns its attention back to the league with the confidence of champions.
