Limerick lost a tight one 85-83 at home to Killarney Cougars, despite a huge triple-double from Toby Christensen.

Limerick Sport Eagles came up two points short at home, beaten 85-83 by Killarney Cougars in Division One. The Eagles were in it to the final whistle but could not quite find the basket to level it, and the visitors held on.

Toby Christensen was everywhere, finishing with 22 points, 19 rebounds and 11 assists for a triple-double, to go with four steals and two blocks. Alex Carlisle added 21 points and six assists, taking 12 attempts from three. Ryan Leonard had 19 points and five assists.

The bench gave what it could, with Colm Hackett scoring eight off 4-from-4 shooting and Fryderyk Klimas adding six. Daniel Shahab ran the offence in spells and dished seven assists.

It is a frustrating one to lose at home before the Christmas break, the kind of close game that goes either way on a couple of late possessions. The Eagles will want a quick response when league action resumes.
