Chris Reidy gave years to the club from a seat few supporters ever noticed. She has passed away, and Limerick basketball is poorer for it.
There is a kind of club work that nobody claps for. The bags counted before a long drive north. The team that has to be in the right hall at the right hour. The hundred small things that go wrong on a Saturday and somehow get sorted before tip-off. Chris did that work for the Eagles for years, and she did it without fuss.
She was there at the start, one of the founding members of the UL Eagles, now Limerick Sport Eagles. As team manager she travelled around the country with the side, through the seasons that brought Super League Cup and League honours. Players came and went under her watch. The club held together partly because she held it together.
Quiet work, done well, for a long time.
Chris has died, and the Eagles have led the tributes. “Her dedication, warmth and passion helped build the foundations of our team,” the club said. “Rest in peace, Chris. Your legacy will always live on in the Eagles family.” The club’s thoughts are with her family and friends.
