Done. Limerick Sport Eagles are a Super League club. They beat Titans BC 82–63 in Saturday's Division One play-off final at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght and earned promotion to the top flight.
Alex Carlisle was unstoppable. 41 points, 22 of them by half-time, final MVP. Titans had no answer for him. Once the Eagles pushed the lead into double figures they kept it there.
That is two trophies this season now. The Cup came in January, and the league title is theirs tonight. The Eagles topped their conference, then beat Tolka Rovers (87–70) and Drogheda Wolves (88–64) in the play-offs to get here.
A big travelling support made the trip up the M7 and turned that corner of Tallaght blue. At the buzzer the players stayed out on the floor a good while, finding family in the stand before the trophy went up. Job done. Bring on the Super League.
