Stand on Thomond Bridge of an evening and the castle is the first thing you see, grey stone against the Shannon. It has been there since the thirteenth century. This season, a bit of it travels with the Eagles.

The club revealed its 2025–26 playing kit on Instagram on Wednesday, and the design takes King John's Castle as its starting point. Blue stays to the fore, as it always has. The squad will wear it at UL Arena and over at St Munchin's College, and on the road through the Domino's Men's Division One season.

They have made a start. The Eagles opened the league with an 82–67 win away to Tipp Talons in Killenaule last weekend. The new strip gets its first home outing later this month, when the lads are back on court at UL Arena.

It is a small thing, a design decision. But the badge now sits under a piece of the city, and the players pull it on knowing exactly where they are from.
