The bus left the East Gate Carpark at a quarter to four, blue jerseys filling the seats, bound for Cork. By the time the Eagles tipped off at 8.15pm the MTU Arena in Bishopstown had a fair slice of Limerick in it, and they got what they came for: an 84–68 win over Templeogue and a place in the National Cup final.
It was a rare sort of night. The Limerick Sport Huskies had played their own Cup semi-final at the same venue earlier, so the travelling support got two teams to shout for and one trip to do it.
On the floor the Eagles settled early and never really let Templeogue back into it. The lads kept their heads, worked the lead and saw it out. When the buzzer went the blue end of the arena knew exactly what it meant.
That makes it three Cup wins this season, after Portlaoise and Carrick. One more game now. The final awaits.
