The last league trip of the season meant a bus to Kerry, and few Eagles fans will have minded the journey home. Limerick Sport Eagles 131, Killarney Cougars 46. That result closed out the regular season and wrapped up top spot in the Southern Conference.
The Presentation Gym in Killarney was the venue for the final outing of the league phase, and it was settled long before the buzzer. Killarney never got going, the lead stretched out early, and once it did the bench got their minutes. By the end the points were coming from every direction.
So the Eagles finish the league phase on top, and they go into the play-offs with home advantage. A businesslike way to close out a long regular season, and a tidy reward for a run of form that has carried the team to the top of the table.
The knockout rounds are next, and the first one will be at home. Thanks to everyone who made the trip down to Kerry to back the lads.
